Andreas Haefliger (Piano)

Born: 1962, Berlin

Nationality: German-born Swiss

Artist's website: https://www.andreashaefliger.com/

Swiss pianist Andreas Haefliger was born into a musical family in Berlin in 1962; his father was the tenor Ernst Haefliger (1919-2007), who was particularly known for his Bach and Mozart and recorded extensively for Deutsche Grammophon. Andreas was educated at the Juilliard, where successes included the Gina Bachauer Memorial Scholarship; by the mid-1990s he had established an international career as a concerto soloist, song pianist, recitalist and chamber musician, and continues to perform and record in all of these capacities.

His discography includes Schubert Lieder with Matthias Goerne (‘mesmerisingly lovely playing Andreas Haefliger, one of the greatest living pianists’ – BBC Music Magazine), the Dvořák Piano Quintet with the Takács Quartet, and his acclaimed Perspectives series (begun in 2003 on Avie), which juxtaposes Beethoven’s sonatas with works from Haydn to Thomas Adès.
