Nationality: German

German violinist Christian Tetzlaff was born in Hamburg in 1966 and studied in Lübeck and Cincinnati. His discography includes acclaimed recordings of the Dvořák violin concerto and Suk Fantasy with the Helsinki Philharmonic and John Storgårds, Bartók concertos with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Hannu Lintu, and the Tchaikovsky concerto with the Russian National Orchestra and Kent Nagano. He has recorded the complete Bach solo sonatas and partitas three times – the most recent (released on Ondine in 2017) won a Diapason d’Or de l’Année, a Times Record of the Year, and a Schallplattenkritik Award in 2018.

In addition to his solo career, Tetzlaff also performs and records regularly with his cellist sister Tanja and the pianist Lars Vogt – their recordings together have included Schumann, Dvořák, Brahms and Shostakovich piano trios, and the Beethoven Triple Concerto with the Royal Northern Sinfonia.
