With this double CD we celebrate Francesco Geminiani's 250th anniversary (1687-1762). It's incomprehensible that a contemporary of Handel whose compositions are every bit as good as Handel's has been so neglected. There are comprehensive sleeve notes but Somm’s principle hope is to convince the listener of the beauty and expressiveness of Geminiani's music which compares very favourably with his contemporary, Handel, with whom he performed for King George I in 1714. Contains a World Premiere Recording. “The playing, both individually and collectively, is impeccable and the result is a very significant recording indeed.” Early Music Review “As performances, these want for nothing in terms of technical brilliance and musical integrity, and the recorded balance is singularly satisfying.” International Record Review |

“Sonatas Nos 1 and 4 benefit from the expressive eloquence of Rachel Brown's flute, and in the opening Andante of the B minor, she and Adrian Butterfield converse with flirtatious suppleness - the ravishing Largo her chance to soar like a Handelian operatic diva.” BBC Music Magazine, Christmas 2009 **** “Rachel Brown's… contribution in Sonatas Nos 1 and 4 is a delight. Adrian Butterfield and Oliver Webber's… playing is stylistically confident, with plenty of intelligent interpretative detail to entertain the ear. These are fine performances from players who really know their ground.” Gramophone Magazine, July 2009 | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |

| | | “Handel at Home” – Arias arranged for flute, strings & harpsichord
The London Handel Players have selected their favourites from Alcina, Solomon, and Semele, some of these arranged by John Walsh (Handel's publisher) but re-arranged for strings, or where appropriate, for flute and strings, by Rachel Brown. Handel's Flute Concerto in G minor is a most welcome addition to the repertoire. “Don’t let the cosy title of this release, with its tiny line-up of executants; fool you into thinking this disc is
going to provide only urbane drawing-room delights. The delights are there in plenty, but so are plenty of
surprises. It is also a valuable historical document for those fascinated by performance practice in the
early decades of the 18th century…Handel at Home begins with a lovely little Flute Concerto in G
minor…SOMM’s presentation and packaging are up to their usual fine standards, and the close but gentle
recording quality suits the music perfectly.” Christopher Morley (The Birmingham Post) “The six musicians featured on this disc are all principal players of the London Handel Orchestra. Their consummate musicianship is consistently delightful: sparkling violin-playing (often with two players in perfect unison) and superb continuo contributions are just as impressive as Brown's poetic solos.” Gramophone Magazine, September 2006 | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |
