Born in Coventry in 1962, the British pianist Mark Bebbington studied at the Royal College of Music and in Paris and Italy, where his teachers included Aldo Ciccolini. He is best known for his advocacy of British piano music of the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and appears on the world premiere recordings of works by William Mathias, Vaughan Williams and Bax, as well as on the first-ever reconstruction of Grieg’s unfinished Second Piano Concerto (released on SOMM in 2018).

Bebbington’s discography includes three volumes of Frank Bridge piano music, Private Passions (a recital of works by Arnold Bax and his muse, student and lover Harriet Cohen), and works by Arthur Bliss, Constant Lambert, Malcolm Arnold, John Joubert, Howard Ferguson, Ivor Gurney, John Ireland and Reginald King (all on SOMM).
