The Choir of Norwich Cathedral, Ashley Grote

Ashley Grote, became the new Organist and Master of the Choristers last year and has started to build the reputation of the Norwich Cathedral Choir. This CD is the first that the choir have made in 16 years and features music that would be heard on a Sunday at the Eucharist and a Festal Evensong. There are first recordings of the Grayston Ives Missa Brevis and Richard Allain’s settings of the Canticles which was written for the choir.

David Dunnett accompanies and brings the CD to a conclusion with a rousing performance of Herbert Howells Psalm prelude Set 2 no.3.

It is addictive. Throw away all other music but leave us the Psalms, they contain everything.” Organists Review
