'Why do I have to sing Mozart all the time?' the tenor in Bernard Lang’s Opera 'I Hate Mozart' cries out in despair. With their provocatively named contribution to the Viennese Mozart Year 2006 Lang and librettist Michael Sturminger succeeded in creating a sharp witted parody of the opera business. Lang shamelessly avails himself of the latest DJ and sampling techniques employing loops of popular melodies.

 | Dream structures for video design with concrete and instrumental surround sound
Klangforum Wien, Dominique My For many years the phenomena of nature or 'wilderness' has
determined and influenced the compositional work of the Cuban-
American-Austrian composer Jorge E. López. For 15 years he lived in
the Hohe Tauern mountains in Southern Austria and the near
wilderness of the US-American mountains. The main themes he
addresses are the awe-inspiring aspects of nature and the driving
force behind human activity. López continuously employs dream
sequences and nightmarish imagery. This recent work, for video
projection and pre-recorded orchestra using 8-channel spatialisation, is no exception; here, López examines
the Alpine front during the First World War, in and around the Dolomites. The central repertoire of sounds
and images for this multi-media work comes from natural and orchestral sounds, mountain imagery and
historical film material. | | | Wergo - WER2061-5 (DVD Video) Normally: £17.99 (£15.31 ex. VAT) Special: £13.49 (£11.48 ex. VAT) |

 | Dahinden - Flying White
“On a purely sonic level, this is an extraordinary listening experience…All quartets share a hushed intimacy, with toneless bowing – a skating or rustling sound. The worlds of Cage’s ‘number’ pieces and Christian Wolff’s Exercises are in the background, but for Dahinden, sonic beauty enters the equation also.” The Wire, February 2007 | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |
