Sadler's Wells Opera

This month sees the re-release of TER’s series of Operetta recordings with The New Sadlers Wells Opera, which includes two classic recordings of the work of Franz Lehar, the first of these being The Count of Luxembourg. Recorded in digital, this series of recordings include in the casts such artists as Marilyn Hill Smith, Elddwen Harrhy, Ramon Remedios, Neil Jenkins and Joan Davies.

These operettas, performed by The New Sadlers Wells Opera, are sung in English, recordings of which had been previously unavailable until this groundbreaking TER series, so are very welcome releases for the many opera enthusiasts who seek out opera recordings in English.

In ‘The Count Of Luxembourg’, the New Sadler’s Wells Opera Chorus and Orchestra provide us with exquisite versions of such classics as “Tell Me Can This Be Love” and “Love’s a Dream”, digitally recorded at Abbey Road Studios.

The highly acclaimed version of Emmerich Kalman’s masterpiece ‘Countess Maritza’. First presented in Vienna in 1924, Countess Maritza, who is forever on her guard against fortune hunters, falls in love with her land superintendent, unaware that he is the aristocratic Count Tassilo.

The New Sadler’s Wells Opera Chorus and Orchestra provide us with exquisite versions of such classics as “Luck Is a Golden Dream” and “When I Start Dreaming”, digitally recorded at Abbey Road Studios.

The New Sadlers Wells Opera’s highly acclaimed version of Franz Lehar’s masterpiece ‘The Merry Widow’, in which the NSWO Chorus and Orchestra provide us with exquisite versions of such classics as “Alone At Last” and “Just As The Sun Awakens”, digitally recorded at Abbey Road Studios.
