James Levine (born June 23, 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio) was an American orchestral pianist and conductor who spent over four decades as music director of the Metropolitan Opera in New York; he also served as music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra from 2004 to 201, and spent two decades leading the Ravinia Festival. His career ended in 2018 amid multiple allegations of sexual abuse, which he maintained were 'unfounded'.
