| | | Telemann: Wind Concertos Volume 5
“although these six concertos are undoubtedly music at the lighter end of the Baroque scale, their unfailing compositional skill and amiable artistic personality are realised with relaxed expertise by a pool of soloists able to run around them with ease. The 16-piece orchestra play with a sunny cordiality, and though their sound is more wispy than punchy, it is recorded with sympathetic soft clarity.” Gramophone Magazine, May 2011 | | | (also available to download from $10.50) | In stock - usually despatched within 1 working day. |

| | | Gaspard Fritz: 5 Sinfonias
We know next to nothing about Swizz music in the 18th-Century. This release by CPO rectifies this by bringing to the fore the Sinfonia’s of Gaspard Fritz. It was in Geneva that Fritz served from 1738 to 1745 as the music director of a group of young English nobles. His music is Sturm und Drang, Storm and Stress, full of power and on the same high level as the Mannheim School. A genuine discovery! |

| | | A. Scarlatti: Sin, Repentance and Grace
Re-released on Capriccio is a Passion Oratorio written by Scarlatti, one of his most mature compositions. Alongside this are two works by Alessandro Stradella; a Lamentation for Wednesday of Holy Week and a work written about the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, all of which are performed by La Stagione under Michael Schneider. “Michael Schneider taps directly into Alessandro Scarlatti's imagination in a richly textured performance of this seldom-heard oratorio. Happily, and unusually, the libretto is included.” BBC Music Magazine, August 2012 **** “The performance is such that this reissue is welcome. The three soloists bring good interpretations, albeit a bit too restrained.” MusicWeb International, June 2012 | | | (also available to download from $21.00) | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days.
