| | | World Premiere Recording
Mario Nuvoli (tenor), Marco Lazzara (alto), Manuela Custer (mezzo-soprano) & Rosita Frisani (soprano) Alessandro Stradella Consort, Estevan Velardi An important release for the recognition of the historical importance of Alessandro Scarlatti, the father of the (still more famous) Domenico Scarlatti. Alessandro Scarlatti formed the bridge between the rich vocal style of the Italian Baroque masters of the 17th century and the gallant style of Mozart and his contemporaries. San Filippo Neri is grand and Oratorio in Handelian style, full of dramatic arias and striking instrumental effects. Excellent performance on authentic instruments by the specialist group Alessandro Stradella Consort, conducted by Estevan Velardi. “This premiere recording of San Filippo Neri is typical of Velardi's admirable zeal, worthy endeavour, natural pacing and the shapely string playing of his band...The Alessandro Stradella Consort deserves credit for boldly going where no Baroque group has gone before” Gramophone Magazine, November 2010 | | | Usually despatched in 4 - 5 working days. |

| | | Alessandro Scarlatti: Cantatas
Cristina Miatello, Claudio Cavina, Barbara di Castri & Gastone Sarti Ensemble Aurora & Fortuna Ensemble This is a selection of rarely-heard intimate compositions by the incredibly prolific composer, Alessandro Scarlatti. He had great affinity with opera and indeed, wrote dozens of them. His dramatic vein shows itself in many of his smaller-scale vocal works too, particularly the secular (chamber) cantatas (of which genre he wrote no less than 820), duets and in the three intermezzos. In each case, the music conveys the precise meaning of the text, which is partly in dialect. Here, the composer achieves a unique level of expressiveness. | | | Usually despatched in 4 - 5 working days. |
