| | | JS Bach: Keyboard Concertos Nos. 1-5
Riccardo Chailly and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig follow the international success of their recording of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos, St. Matthew Passion and the critically acclaimed Weihnachts-Oratorium with five of Bach’s best-loved concertos for keyboard – a recording which has already spent 7 weeks in the Italian pop charts. The soloist is young Iranian-born Bach specialist Ramin Bahrami. Well known on the international concert platform, Ramin Bahrami studied with the legendary American Bach pianist Rosalyn Tureck – the artist who perhaps more than any other brought the composer’s keyboard works to the attention of the public through her research and recordings. “Bahrami shows fine technique and crisp articulation in the fast passagework.” BBC Music Magazine, October 2011 *** “Technically, the playing is highly accomplished and Bahrami's touch is infallible.” Classic FM Magazine, October 2011 *** “An unselfconscious frisson of symphonic timbre and period clarity really does kick these concertos off into some highly distinctive regions...But it's the direct and ringing pianism of Ramin Bahrami that defines this unusual collaboration. The figurative and textural traits of the D minor and major concertos find a compelling viscerality...a remarkably interesting and vitally conceived disc to which I shall return eagerly and admiringly.” Gramophone Magazine, November 2011 “Like his colleagues here, [Bahrami] is no early-music fundamentalist, yet baroque manners inform these readings...even though Chailly and Bahrami favour somewhat brisk fast movements. If, as a result of that, there’s an occasional suggestion that the pianist is being pushed perhaps a little too hard, the gamble by and large pays off.” Sunday Times, 18th September 2011 “With Chailly’s Bach-ingrained Leipzigers as “historically informed partners”, the Iranian Bahrani delivers crisply articulated, zippy allegros and deeply felt adagios — the Siciliano of the E major concerto lovingly phrased — without sentimentalising the music.” Sunday Times, 7th August 2011 *** “These readings...are good enough to make me never want to hear a harpsichord again. Subtly faster speeds mean that it’s possible to squeeze all five concertos onto one disc. And, combined with Chailly’s immaculate, big-hearted accompaniments, Bahrami’s effortless style and panache make listening to the disc a life-enhancing experience” The Arts Desk, 15th October 2011 | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |

| | | Carl Schuricht conducts Brahms & JS Bach
Carl Schuricht was awarded a warm welcome in Geneva from Ernest Ansermet when forced into exile in 1944. Brahms was always a central part of Carl Schuricht’s repertoire. The harnessing of the fourth symphony, delivered in 1952 is amazing due to the intensity of its metronomic movements and the fluidity of its reading. Carl Schuricht added Bach’s second suite for orchestra to his repertoire to allow the talents of the orchestra’s solo flutist – André Pépin, to be highlighted. | | | Usually despatched in 4 - 5 working days. |

| | | Harmonic Labyrinth (The Con Gioia Recordings)
Rohan de Saram (cello) & Preethi de Silva (harpsichord) Rohan de Saram was a member of the supreme Arditti Quartet for over twenty years and has also performed as soloist with many of the major international orchestras. His recording of the Berio Sequenzas was rated as one of the ’10 best recordings’ of 2006 by The New York Times. Accompanying Rohan de Saram on the outstanding recording is Preethi de Silva, director of the US early music ensemble Con Gioia. “There are few of his [de Saram's] generation that have such gifts” Pablo Casals “De Silva impressed us as a musician of great accomplishment and originality..” The Daily Telegraph “it is an eclectic assemblage of music that nevertheless reveals much about the artists, both Sri Lankan by birth. The contributions from each of the musicians reflect some of the major influences on their careers. Saram was a pupil of Casals, so Bach is very important to him, and his approach to the music reflects that....Silva's training as a harpsichordist and composer in Europe and the US is amply on show in the sophisticated and witty CPE Bach Variations” Gramophone Magazine, December 2011 | | | Usually despatched in 4 - 5 working days. |

| | | Travels With My Renaissance Lute
and excerpts from works by Abel, JS Bach and Dowland
Ryosuke Sakamoto, a 24-year old Japanese musician, belongs to the second generation which takes an interest in European early music. He started already as a small child to make music together with his parents and has also acquired a solid knowledge in music theory and history. On this CD he "travels" with his lute through European countries, and for him it is quite natural to use his Renaissance lute even for excursions into later epochs and genres not intended for the lute - from Dowland to Debussy! In the booklet you can read the musician's own commentary. | | | Usually despatched in 4 - 5 working days. |

| | | Time Span - Live at Orgryte
and a Bach setting of 'Wir glaben all' an einen Gott'
In a live concert Bengt Tribukait exposes the two interesting organs at Örgryte New Church, Gothenburg, and their capacities. The North German baroque organ is a result of a research project at Gothenburg University. It was reconstructed entirely from scratch with old types of tools (also reconstructed) and according to old methods, and has already an international fame. The other organ was originally used in England but has been imported to Sweden. It is a Victorian organ from about 1870, made by the famous organ-builder Henry Willis. The concert program contains music from four centuries by (17th c.) Byrd, (18th c.) Vivaldi and Bach, (19th c.) Liszt, (c. 2000) Borisova and Dimitrijev (two young Russian composers, living in Stockholm) | | | Usually despatched in 4 - 5 working days. |

| | | JS Bach: Sonatas for viola and piano BWV 1027-1029
Hariolf Schlichtig (viola) & Yumi Sekiya (piano) Bach’s three Sonatas for Viola da Gamba and Harpsichord (BWV 1027-1029) are among his most famous chamber works and it is quite logical and natural to transfer the gamba part to the viola. It is fascinating to enjoy some of the Chorales without their church associations and enjoy the sonority of the instruments. | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |
