“as well as dazzling virtuosity and panache, they wax lyrical as well.” BBC Music Magazine, June 2010 **** “the players largely cast the jokes aside to give us more-or-less conventionally expressed readings...As usual it's just a bit of fun, but intelligent and unforced fun.” Gramophone Magazine, May 2010 “A brilliant and affectingly different collection of transcriptions of favourite Bach movements, at times uniquely exhilarating, at others showing Bach at his most expressively touching... Adams's recorder playing is musically dazzling...but the other players complete an ensemble which is delightfully fresh and alive” Penguin Guide, 2011 edition | | | Usually despatched in 4 - 5 working days. |

| | | Schoenberg - Brahms & Bach Orchestrations
Schoenberg’s arrangements of other composers’ music are often neglected, overshadowed by the many masterpieces of musicological significance his catalogue boasts, yet they were an area to which he devoted a considerable amount of time, transcribing all kinds of music, from popular Viennese songs to operetta excerpts and Strauss waltzes, as well as scores (re)composed by Zemlinsky and works by Bach and Brahms. | | | Usually despatched in 4 - 5 working days. |

| | | JS, CPE and JC Bach: Three Keyboard Concertos
“The harpsichord is often barely audible behind nine strings; organ and fortepiano fare better in this fascinating overview of Bach-pere and sons, highlighting the strong stylistic contrasts.” BBC Music Magazine, August 2012 *** “While it is a shame that the Concerto in d minor by Johann Sebastian isn't completely satisfying this is certainly a disc to enjoy. That’s especially true so far as the concertos by the two Bach sons are concerned...Emanuel's organ concertos are not that well-known, and the one by Johann Christoph Friedrich will enhance the reputation of its composer.” MusicWeb International, July 2012 | | | (also available to download from $10.50) | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. | | | version for 2 pianos by Rheinberger/Reger
Yaara Tal & Andreas Groethuysen (piano duo) In 1883 Joseph Rheinberger arranged J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations (written for harpsichord with two manuals) for two pianos and carefully added some extra parts. This made the work more three-dimensional, giving it greater volume and plasticity. Some 20 years later, the composer and pianist Max Reger revised this arrangement, adding his own dynamics, articulation and tempo markings. These changes give the work additional colour and splendour, while still maintaining the spirit of the original work. The Israeli pianist Yaara Tal and her German partner Andreas Groethuysen are the world´s leading piano duo. Besides an unsurpassed homogeneity and spontaneity in their playing, an untiring creativity in offering unprecedented programs which also uncover unjustly neglected treasures of the repertoire, is considered as a special trademark of the duo. “Arrangements of Bach's supreme keyboard work seem to proliferate for no worthwhile reason. But this particular reworking has more claim to attention than most, for it shows the Goldberg Variations filtered through the sensibility of two very different late romantic composers.” The Guardian, 1st April 2010 *** “[Rheinberger's arrangement] is so inventive and is played here with such infectious vitality that it is a thrilling experience...Tal and Groethuysen play with masterful understanding, taut rhythmic control and impeccable ensemble...The result is wonderfully alive, involving and ultimately very moving.” BBC Music Magazine, June 2010 ***** “Tal and Groethuysen are uncannily sensitive to each other's thoughts and phrasing, subsuming their careful preparation of the score into refined pianism of palpable delight, spontaneity and extraordinary precision...This is two-piano playing of an exalted standard that few other partnerships today come anywhere near.” Gramophone Magazine, October 2010 | | | Usually despatched in 3 - 4 working days. |
