| | | Great Operatic Arias 18 - Jennifer LarmoreSung in English
She presents her first operatic arias disc on Chandos Opera in English with a wide range of composers, performing works from Donizetti’s La favorita, Cilea’s Adriana Lecourvreur, Rossini’s Tancredi, Rienzi by Wagner, Romeo and Juliet by Gounod and Mozart’s Don Giovanni to name but a few! As well as solo arias she also performs a number of duets and is joined on the disc by Susan Patterson, Fflur Wyn and Colin Lee – all familiar names on the Chandos Opera in English label. “Track by track, Larmore's technical command and dramatic concentration are stunning. That Rienzi solo, for instance, is an immense undertaking, and everything - vocal range and expressive intensity for a start - is in the grand manner, indomitable and tireless.” Gramophone Magazine, July 2007 “Versatility is the key to mezzo Jennifer Larmore's success in this English-language programme, as it is in the opera house. …when one hears her in the waltz-song from Gounod's Romeo and Juliet, a coloratura soprano showpiece that goes too high for many sopranos' comfort, then one just has to take off one's hat.” BBC Music Magazine, May 2007 **** BBC Music Magazine

| | | Juan Diego Flórez - The Tenor
“The sheer technical accomplishment of his singing is astounding, but it’s the way that he finesses this music with the delicacy of a true tenore di grazia that make his performances truly memorable. In the history of Rossini singing on record, these accounts stand comparison with any. If you're still uncertain whether contemporary vocal standards are as high as they were, listen to this.” BBC Music Magazine, March 2007 ***** | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |

| | | Il Salotto Volume 9 - Ora Divina
Ora divina is the ninth volume of Opera Rara’s acclaimed Il Salotto series and is an extraordinary collection of passionate songs. The songs featured on this disc explore the serious side of love. You will discover here the plaintive song Ad un fiume by Mariani, conductor turned composer and author of the Turkish National Anthem, the canon fiero dolore, composed by Lord Burghersh (founder of the Royal Academy of Music London) and is bought to life by Diana Montague, Bruce Ford, Majella Cullagh and Mark Stone, a distinguished line-up of artists indeed. Michael Balfe, famous for his Victorian Ballads I dreamt in Marble Halls and Come into the garden Maud, muses on the themes of lost love and sullied virtue in his the blighted flower. Offenbach’s L’etoile, brilliantly sung by Elizabeth Vidal and accompanied by the distinguished cellist Susie Beer, shows that romance and love always come tinged with a hint of irony and nothing is ever quite what it seems. And, of course, there is the duet by Fabio Campana, sung by Diana Montague and Paul Austin Kelly, that gives this volume its title, Ora Divina, a meditation on love’s overwhelming intensity. This disc is accompanied by a fully illustrated 72 page booklet with an introduction and notes to the songs by the distinguished writer, broadcaster and music journalist Patrick O’Connor. “Ora Divina follows up last year's successful Notturno collection with more forgotten bel canto gems, from salon songs to opera ensembles. Altogether it's a recital of uncommon, easy charm…” BBC Music Magazine, July 2007 ***** “Opera Rara’s exquisite salon music series” American All Music Guide | | | (also available to download from $11.00) | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days.
