Schott-Zierotin has recorded numerous CDs and is a publisher of chamber music and is a specialist in Strauss, Lanner and Fahrbach. Georg Wagner has a lively interest in all aspects of music and has been engaged in a variety of fields including publishing, composition, performing as a percussionist and soloist and accompanist on piano and harpsichord.

Bataclan’s latest project immerses the listener into the fin d’époque atmosphere in cities such as Paris, London and Berlin at the dawn of the 20th century.

Bataclan’s unique combination of instruments; bandoneón, bassoon and harpsichord provides a wonderful combination for this music.

Andreas Blau was a soloist in the Berlin Philharmonic at the age of only twenty and has always been exploring the limits of his flute playing. He and his equally dextrous piano partner Hendrik Heilman deliver with light hand some two dozen great popular favourites from “Greensleeves” to “The Godfather”, in sophisticated arrangements. The CD includes works by Rota, Rodrigo and Rimsky Korsakov.

Jacob Gade, who wrote the world-famous Tango Jalousie, was one of Copenhagen's leading composers.

In his waltzes we hear the sound of the 1920s and sense the mood of the days when every proper restaurant had its own orchestra. Gade was also a pioneer of cinema music, and his Kino-Musik gives a complete impression of how motion pictures were accompanied in the Golden Age of the silent film.

A fun disc featuring repertoire as diverse as Mozart’s ‘A Little Laugh’ to Rossini’s famous ‘Cat Duet’, this bassoon ensemble continue their series of virtuosic performances for MDG.

The king of dances, the tango, played by Eckart Runge and Jacques Ammon. There are performances of popular repertoire works such as “El Choclo” by Angel Villoldo and “El dia que me quieras” by Carlos Gardel. With technical brilliance, classical dance rhythms interact with the occasionally off-the-wall, sometimes fugue-like elements of tango nuevo.

Jakob Gade (1879-1963) – Danish composer and violinist – is world famous as the composer of Jalousie, Tango Tsigane. However, besides this celebrated concert piece, Gade left us a large number of melodious orchestral works in the popular music genres of his day, and composed several symphonic suites.

“The vertical expression of a horizontal desire,” is how Angela Rippon has described the Tango, and while a trifle risqué it neatly encapsulates the essence of the music with its sensuous rhythms and beguiling beat. The Tango captured the imagination of one of Ireland’s finest fiddlers, Fionnuala Hunt, and this disc – the culmination of years of her own research – tracks the art form from its origins in the bordellos and back streets of Buenos Aires to the concert platforms of the world. Tangos & Dances charts the history of Tango through the 1900s up to the present day, from its early dance form to the more jazz-inspired music of contemporary times.

One of Ireland’s most distinguished musicians with an impressive international itinerary to her credit, Fionnuala Hunt leads the RTE National Orchestra in her own lush arrangements of a dozen exotic dances. Complementing the CD is a bonus DVD of Fionnuala in conversation with genial BBC personality Sean Rafferty, discussing her own passion for the dance and the development of this project.
