| | | Mozart - Piano Quartets
“…the sparkling clarity of Ian Brown at the piano is a constant delight. His phrasing and articulation are a model of sensitivity, with a faithful piano sound. He is partnered by an exceptionally strong trio of string players - violinist Marianne Thorsen, the outstanding viola player Lawrence Power and the long-established cellist Ian Watkins. There have been many fine versions of this favourite coupling but this new offering stands among the finest.” Gramophone Magazine, July 2007 | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |

| | | Great Operatic Arias 18 - Jennifer LarmoreSung in English
She presents her first operatic arias disc on Chandos Opera in English with a wide range of composers, performing works from Donizetti’s La favorita, Cilea’s Adriana Lecourvreur, Rossini’s Tancredi, Rienzi by Wagner, Romeo and Juliet by Gounod and Mozart’s Don Giovanni to name but a few! As well as solo arias she also performs a number of duets and is joined on the disc by Susan Patterson, Fflur Wyn and Colin Lee – all familiar names on the Chandos Opera in English label. “Versatility is the key to mezzo Jennifer Larmore's success in this English-language programme, as it is in the opera house. …when one hears her in the waltz-song from Gounod's Romeo and Juliet, a coloratura soprano showpiece that goes too high for many sopranos' comfort, then one just has to take off one's hat.” BBC Music Magazine, May 2007 **** “Track by track, Larmore's technical command and dramatic concentration are stunning. That Rienzi solo, for instance, is an immense undertaking, and everything - vocal range and expressive intensity for a start - is in the grand manner, indomitable and tireless.” Gramophone Magazine, July 2007 BBC Music Magazine

A valuable sequel to our first Kissin Collection with early recordings. This set of five CD’s once more demonstrates the incredible maturity of Kissin’s playing at a tender age (from 12 to 19 years old). Here one can follow the development of the young pianist from being a child prodigy to an established artist. The repertoire includes some of Mozart concertos together with the Moscow Virtuosi, the ensemble with which Kissin toured in 1988. Next to Prokofiev’s third Piano concerto –together with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra -, this set mainly contains some solo music, including two Inventions by the young pianist himself. With Schubert’s Trout Quintet as a rare example of Kissin playing chamber music. Recordings made between 1984 and 1990. | | | Usually despatched in 4 - 5 working days. |

'A musical and vocal pleasure...A major festival event in the anniversary year' Donaukurier “The camera-work here is as artful as the production: during the Overture (conjured into being by a Mephisto-like MC of a Don Alfonso in Thomas Allen), a single white feather descends; badminton and fencing ensue. Under a vast azure horizon, a huge white egg watches as the women overhear the plotting of the men. This makes for a compelling new twist, as the human heart's infinite potential for self-delusion is unfolded. Manfred Honeck draws swift and minutely attuned playing from the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.” BBC Music Magazine, May 2007 ***** | | | Usually despatched in 8 - 10 working days. |

“A maximum of furious orchestral power...an opera of shattering emotions and volatile hyper-excitement with exuberant passion.” Süddeutsche Zeitung “Krämer is a pantomimic production in which a charade-like alternation of 18th-century costume and modern couture reveals the characters' own role-play as they jostle for love and power. It all makes for stunningly handsome and compelling theatre - though the relentlessly restless activity... is hardly necessary given the dynamism of Minkowski's conducting...” BBC Music Magazine, May 2007 **** | | | Usually despatched in 8 - 10 working days. |

“For Idomeneo classical masks, coppery sunscapes and a white square walkway dominate a stunningly lit space in which the house of Crete and Troy suffer their personal anguish. The cast is superb… Ramón Vargas is a statuesque Idomeneo; Magdalena Kožená a red-headed, highly strung boy of an Idamante; Ekaterina Siurina an exquisitely sung Ilia - and, best of all, Anja Harteros illuminates and enflames Mozart's writing for Elettra, under the robust, if occasionally brusque, baton of Roger Norrington.” BBC Music Magazine, May 2007 **** “A vocal ensemble of the highest quality...this was scintillating as well as moving Mozart.” Salzburger Volkszeitung | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |
