Per Nørgård (b. 1932) is one of the most original artists in the cultural life of Denmark. Here, his string quartets nos. 7, 8, 9 and 10 are presented in their world première recording. There’s a special chemistry when the Kroger Quartet play music by Per Nørgård. In fact the renowned old composer is so enthusiastic about the young ensemble that he has dedicated two of his most recent string quartets to them. The tenth quartet, Harvest-Timeless, was in fact composed as a dialogue with the musicians themselves. “Per Nørgård's string quartets may not provide an easy listen, but in the array of sounds and emotional states they present, they are never short of compelling...The Kroger Quartet, which has worked extensively with the composer, ably brings out the music's sense of spontaneity and close dialogue, even argument, between the four instruments.” The Telegraph, 14th June 2008 | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |

| | | Nørgård & Hind - Works for Piano
Rolf Hind (piano) & David Alberman (violin) The works on the CD Secret Melodies have exquisite poetic titles that could make anyone dream. At the same time this is music whose execution demands players equal to the challenge, with the major work Achilles and the Tortoise as one of the absolute pianistic trials of strength in contemporary music. But above all Nørgård’s music – at once esoteric and organic – offers experiences of a kind that seems to defy time and place. According to The Independent Rolf Hind is “one of the rare examples of a musician who could be just as successful if he chose a career as a composer”. | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |
