Giacomo Antonio Domenico Michele Secondo Maria Puccini

(1858-1924)

Giacomo Antonio Domenico Michele Secondo Maria Puccini (1858-1924)

Italian opera composer of the unrivalled popularity and success. Tosca, La Bohéme, Madame Butterfly and Turandot, amongst his principal operas, all display his gift for melody, matched by a strong theatrical sense and rich harmonisation and orchestration. Having been born into some poverty, he made up for it by enjoying the good life when it came, with a particular liking for fast cars and boats.
