Schubert set the poetry of over 115 writers to music. He selected poems from classical Greece, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, from eighteenth-century German authors, early Romantics, Biedermeier poets, and Heine. The Deutsche Schubert-Lied-Edition presents all Schubert’s Lieder, over 700 songs, grouped according to the poets who inspired him. Thanks to Bärenreiter’s Neue Schubert-Ausgabe (New Schubert Edition), Tübingen, which uses primary sources, the performers have been able to benefit from the most recent research of the editorial team. | | | (also available to download from $6.00) | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. | | | Perspectives 3
Of his Perspectives series of recordings for AVIE, Andreas Haefliger says, “In creative programming, I have always seen an opportunity for illuminating the individuality of works by placing them in tonal, dramatic and historic relief. Thus, through the sequence of a recital program, repertoire that has long been familiar to us is put into a new perspective. This series is a document of my concert activity and aims at bringing the recital experience to the living room.” This recital offers the perspective of a great Schubert Sonata that despite its originality also shows its indebtedness to Beethoven. The two popular Beethoven Sonatas have features that resonated deeply with Schubert, who adored the older composer and persistently used his works as models. Previous releases in this series Perspectives 1 (AV 0041) which contrasts Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert with Thomas Adès, and Perspectives 2 (AV 2082) which juxtaposes Beethoven, Brahms and Bartók. 2 CDs for price of 1 “Jaefliger's innate affinity for Beethoven's largely lyrical Op 28 Sonata manifests itself via the pianist's relaxed tempi and ample tone. ” Gramophone Magazine, June 2008 “The idea of recording for CD piano-recital programmes designed for the concert hall is a good one, provided that the programmes make musical sense and that the spontaneity of live performance can be preserved. On both counts, Haefliger succeeds” Sunday Times | | | Usually despatched in 4 - 5 working days. |

| | | Schubert - Piano Trios Nos. 1 & 2
“High-voltage late and early Schubert from a trio of Frenchmen beautifully played” Gramophone Magazine “…trio Wanderer…approach Schubert not so much as an early Romantic, but rather as a fantastically imaginative and generous Classicist… The sense of sparkling, intimate exchange between the three players is as vital and at times as sophisticated as in Haydn. There's a tremendous sense of fun in the finales of both trios.” BBC Music Magazine, April 2008 ***** BBC Music Magazine
