The 20 pieces collected together by Stefan Fricke and presented on this release are all pieces inspired by the myth of Orpheus. Sometimes the composers have taken the myth as the inspiration for their own individual thoughts, ideas and interpretations. Others have used the music written by Monteverdi 400 who was himself inspired by the Orpheus myth and composed his own opera ‘L’orfeo’, 400 years ago in 1607.
