The organ of Christ Church, Spitalfields, recently restored, is one of the most important in England. The largest ever built in the British Isles at the time of its completion in 1735 by Richard Bridge, it is the perfect instrument for English 18th Century music – justly regarded as a golden age in keyboard music. This beautifully recorded double CD includes a treasure trove of music by well-known composers such as Handel, Stanley, Purcell and Arne, as well as lesser known music by Prelleur, Greene, Bull, Barrett, Heron, Boyce, Walond, Nares, Reading, James and Keeble.
