Praised by the Washington Post (USA) for her “technical facility and musicality”, Hungarian born pianist Kriszta Kovacs was the 1993 winner of the prestigious Liszt Scholarship established by Van Cliburn at Texas Christian University. A prize winner at the 1991 Liszt International Piano Competition in Budapest and the 1993 International Piano Competition in Beijing, China, she also won the coveted Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Prize (1993) and was the First Prize winner at the 1994 Wideman Competition (Shreveport, USA). Kriszta Kovacs went on winning the First Prize at the Beethoven Sonata Competition (Memphis, USA) as well as the First Prize in the Martin Memorial Competition (Fort Worth, USA). More recent achievements include the Grand Prize of the 1995 World Piano Competition (Cincinnati, USA). Among her numerous 1996 North American engagements is a recital at the Lincoln Center in New York. Since her arrival to Canada in 1995, Miss Kovacs has performed on National CBC television and was a guest in several festivals. Kriszta Kovacs has studied with Gyorgy Nadar and Tamas Unger, and in master classes with Lazar Berman, Jean-Louis Steuerman, and Tamas Vasary.
