Coming Soon, Chopin Competition Winner - Seong-Jin Cho

A quick glance at the previous winners of the Chopin Piano Competition (held every 5 years and where all the competitors play only Chopin) shows that this is a competition to take very seriously. Maurizio Pollini, Krystian Zimerman, Garrick Ohlsson, Rafał Blechacz, Yundi Li and Martha Argerich are all former winners, and the last two were amongst the jury for the 2015 competition.

This year's winner, South Korea's Seong-Jin Cho, aged 21, therefore has a lot to live up to, and Deutsche Grammophon have wasted no time giving him the opportunity to demonstrate his talents to the wider world. His debut recording, made from the finals themselves, is released next month. All Chopin of course, the exact repertoire is apparently being decided as I type!
