Joyce DiDonato - In War and Peace
As she prepares for tonight's live cinema broadcast of Massenet's Werther from the Royal Opera House, we've just heard details of Joyce DiDonato's latest recording project with Erato, a collection of eighteenth-century operatic and oratorio arias entitled In War and Peace: Harmony Through Music.
The exact programme is still to be confirmed, but will feature 'When I am laid in earth' from Purcell's Dido & Aeneas and 'Scenes of Horror' from Handel's Jephtha, as well as music by Italian baroque composers including Jommelli and Monteverdi. DiDonato will be joined by Il Pomo d’Oro under their new principal conductor Maxim Emelyanychev.
In War and Peace will be released worldwide on Erato on 4th November, with a 13-date tour of the programme taking place throughout Europe and the US during November and December. More details soon!
