This five CD set features a brand new recording of the complete set of Brahms' majestic symphonies (Nos 1 - 4). The set also includes a selection of Brahms' most popular shorter works, from the musical merriment of the Academic Festival Overture, to the emotional and volatile Tragic Overture and the masterly Variations on a Theme by Haydn. The final disc is dedicated to the lyrical Serenade No.1 in D major, symphonic in conception but with a much lighter touch and full of whimsy. Grzegorz Nowak is the Principal Associate Conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and has led the Orchestra on tours to Switzerland, Turkey and Armenia and in numerous appearances in London and throughout the UK. He has recorded an extensive range of key classical repertoire with the RPO, including Dvořák's Symphonies Nos 6-9, Shostakovich's Symphony No.5 and Mendelssohn's 'Scottish' and 'Italian' Symphonies. This new set is offered at a special price of 5 CDs for the price of 3. “The RPO do sensuousness uncommonly well. The end result was rich yet delicate, with wonderfully liquid woodwind solos and an exquisite sheen on the strings.” The Guardian |

| | | Barry Wordsworth Conducts Elgar
Brand new recordings of Elgar, one of Britain’s finest composers, by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and distinguished British conductor Barry Wordsworth. Includes the complete Pomp and Circumstance Marches. Recorded last year at the RPO’s London home, Cadogan Hall. “The programme's a generous one, with the Royal Philharmonic sounding in eminently healthy fettle...But there's precious little about these performances that lingers in the memory. Take Cockaigne: Wordsworth certainly knows his way around the metropolis but neither is he, in all honesty, the most personable nor illuminating guide.” Gramophone Magazine, September 2012 “The Cadogan acoustic lets individual voices shine through in an account of Cockaigne bursting with lively vulgarity. Cornets and trombones are extra-prominent. It bounces along, and Wordsworth doesn’t overdo the tiny stops and starts.” The Arts Desk, 4th August 2012 | | | (also available to download from $10.75) | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days.
