| | | Corelli: Sonate da Chiesa Opera Terza & 7 Sonate Postume
Ensemble Aurora, Enrico Gatti Corelli’s Op. 3 (12 sonatas for two violins and continuo) – and seven similar but seldom-heard, posthumous sonatas – are performed here by Enrico Gatti, considered by many to be an authoritative Corelli interpreter. This multi-award-winning disc returns with new artwork and a cover that celebrates the close artistic association and friendship of Corelli and the celebrated painter Francesco Trevisani with a masterpiece commissioned by the two artists’ patron, Cardinal Pietro Ottoboni. Born in 1955 in Perugia, Italy, Enrico Gatti has dedicated himself to the study of XVII and XVIII century repertoire. He has performed extensively with, amongst others, La Petite Bande, Ensemble 415, Concerto Palatino, Hesperion XX, La Real Cámara, as leader of Les Arts Florissants, Les Talens Lyriques, The King’s Consort, Ricercar Consort and Concerto Köln. He directs the Ensemble Aurora, which he founded in Italy in 1986 to further promote the study and performance of Italian musical heritage. The complete recording of Corelli’s Op.III won the diapason d’or de l’année in 1998. Recorded September 16th - 20th 1996 (CD 1), September 15th - 20th 1997 (CD 2), Église de Grancey-le-Château, France “...here are expert Baroque musicians putting the emphasis firmly on the revered composer of classical restraint, grace and perfection...the beauties of Corelli's noble counterpoint emerge from Aurora's measured "on-the-string" style, and every sonata has its own weight and substance.” Gramophone Magazine, Awards Issue 2010 | | Arcana - A402 (CD - 2 discs) Normally: $26.50 Special: $20.40 |

The celebration of the Nativity has always been a source of inspiration for composers. The different elements of the evangelical narrative evoke numerous images: tender feelings before the Baby Jesus; the gentleness of his mother, the Virgin Mary; the procession of the three Wise Men; the angelic choirs in Heaven; and these shepherds gathered in the manger. All that appears in the musical repertoire linked to this holiday, as well as the presence of colourful instrumentations and themes connected to folk traditions. This set, released by Ricercar, brings together all these elements, drawn from the repertoires of the Renaissance and Baroque eras. | | | Usually despatched in 4 - 5 working days. |

| | | Portrait: Amandine Beyer
This double album offers a portrait of the violinist Amandine Beyer drawn from the recordings she has made for ZZT. The first CD selects highlights from her chamber repertoire, including works by Jean-Féry Rebel, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Nicola Matteis, and Robert de Visée. The second is devoted to the concerto, with compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, and Arcangelo Corelli. This programme is an ideal introduction to the multiple facets of Amandine Beyer’s talent and to the grace and joie de vivre of her music-making. It also provides an opportunity to discover one of Corelli’s Concerti Grossi op.6, a preview of the complete set to be released on ZZT in the autumn of 2013. |
