The recording of the first French performance of Humperdinck’s opera Königskinder (the King’s Children) was originally released in May 2006 with a splendid cast under conductor Armin Jordan, which featured a certain Jonas Kaufmann who triumphed in his role as the Prince in this fairy-tale opera. This recording stands out from other versions available in the market as a beautiful, extremely rare album which was highly praised by critics for the remarkable vocal performances of the chorus and soloists. This fine work is also considered a precious musical testament to the conductor Armin Jordan, who died in 2006.
“[stars] Kaufmann, then just beginning his meteoric superstellar career and with his voice in fabulous condition.”
