La Barca Leyden is a baroque ensemble founded by flautist Raymond Honing and consists of prominent musicians who have specialised in the authentic performance practice of early music. This CD gives an impression of the rich musical culture at the court of Johann Wilhelm (Duke of Jülich-Berg). La Barca Leyden uses similar instrumentation to Duke Johann Wilhelm’s musical ensemble, which is depicted in a painting from 1695, showing him and his wife dancing in Spanish costumes.
