Marie-Claire Alain (organ)

After recording a vast repertoire, ranging from Grigny to Messiaen and including, of course, J.S. Bach, Marie-Claire Alain returns to her family roots with the music of her father, Albert Alain, who instigated the musical vocation of her brother, Jehan Alain, as well as her own. His music, post Franck, influenced by Vierne and Fauré and by Gregorian modality, was written to be played on the two Cavaillé-Coll organs of the parish church of St Germain-en- Laye, which is where this CD was recorded.
