Pygmalion a setting by Bach of the monologue by Carl Wilhelm Ramler. The American Girl was written in collaboration with the north German poet Heinrich Wilhelm von Gerstenberg. The play Ino was set to music by other composers including Telemann but Bach’s setting of 1786 is thought to be his most dramatic composition.
