The works of the Belgian composer Michel Lysight, are part of a movement that is known as the "Nouvelle Musique Consonante". Influenced by Arvo Pärt, situated between Steve Reich and Henrick Mikolaj Gorecki, Lysight's music is above all intended to provide an emotional experience without sinking into backward-looking academicism. The structuring as well as the melodic and rhythmic developments are very important and varied; adaptable orchestration of the pieces, inter-penetration of the motifs, repetitive structure or tuneful and expressive melodies, a slow waltz or pieces of great virtuosity But this structuring is only one means of expression amongst others and not an aim, enabling listeners to discover a world of pleasure and of dreams. The "Ensemble Nouvelles Consonances", composed of famous instrumentalists, helps us rediscover this rich, varied music.
