On this new Dacapo recording, the world première recordings of Danish composer Niels Otto Raasted’s solo violin sonatas are presented. These works reveal the composer's idiomatic Neo-Baroque style, beautifully modeled on all violinists' “Bible”, the solo suites by Johann Sebastian Bach. They offer a unique balance between Neo-Baroque strictness and Late Romantic sentiment, coupled with considerable technical challenges that make them very easy on the ear.
