Danish composer Vagn Holmboe was so captivated by the guitar he wrote two beautiful sonatas and a number of solo pieces as well as duets for guitar and other instruments, combining his love of simple, transparent structures and organic musical development with the folklore of foreign cultures and his own Nordic roots. His solo and chamber works for guitar are heard on this CD, Canto e Danze and Folk Ballads in world première recordings.
