Ferruccio Busoni once stated that if he was to choose one musician as the greatest, this could only be Mozart: it would be quite surprising, therefore, if Busoni had not transcribed any of Mozart’s works, the transcription having been - as it is well known - one of his specific interests. Of Mozart, Busoni transcribed a number of compositions for two pianos and for piano solo, the latter all featured for the first time in the present CD: in all there are three Symphonies and the second movement of a Concerto, in addition to studies on passages from Mozart’s theatrical operas.

Marco Vincenzi teaches piano at the Concervatory of Alessandria and is the director of the Centro Studi Musicali Ferruccio Busoni of Empoli..
