Freek Borstlap (baryton), Helena van Tongern (viola) & Jan Insinger (cello) The baryton was once a very well known and highly regarded instrument. Very much like a cello in appearance, it has 6 to 7 strings and a typically viola da gamba like sound quality. It is interesting to note that Haydn wrote more works for baryton trio than he did for any other combination of instruments. |
