"Lajos Lencsés is one of the greatest oboists of our time" – wrote the French Diapason magazine in 1990, when his recording won the prestigious "Diapason d’Or" Award. Lencsés was born in Dorog (Hungary) in 1943 and studied at the Budapest Academy of Music, and then at the Paris Conservatory. His international career started with victory in the Geneva International Competition in 1968. He is a member of the Stuttgart Radio Orchestra, and also a soloist of world renown. His rich repertoire ranges from the Baroque age to contemporary music, and he has recorded numerous discs for Hänssler Classic.
