One of the most promising young violinist, Valery Sokolov, and one of the most prestigious chamber orchestras, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, play under the baton of Vladimir Ashkenazy at the Cité de la musique in Paris.
This concert captures Sokolov’s collaboration with Vladimir Ashkenazy, an established conductor who himself has been a major soloist for the past half-century, in one of the most demanding pieces of the violin repertoire: Sibelius’ violin concerto.
The producer Bruno Monsaingeon has followed and documented the career of Valery Sokolov since 4 years from the beginning of his career. This film shows a quite intimate view on Sokolov playing Sibelius` Violin Concerto.

“Monsaingeon captures Ashkenazy, his superb orchestra and a very special violin soloist with frequent concentration on close-ups...Sokolov's violin playing requires every superlative in the dictionary - here's a young man to watch out for, in no uncertain terms.”
