This [under the title 'Polonia'] was the pianist Pascal Amoyel's third recording for La Dolce Volta after his much acclaimed Alkan and Liszt discs. He gave an interpretation of the great Polonaises as metaphors of the Polish diaspora: of exile, sorrow and despair. The 'Polonaise-Fantaisie', a synthesis of all the others, closes this sumptuous recording, now repackaged as a Catalogue CD 2017 at mid price.
