Did Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart compose the works on these CD’s or didn’t he? The scores of these recording premieres are unanimous in naming Mozart as their author, but such claims were not uncommon in the final decades of the eighteenth century. Whatever the decision, this spectacular series shows that the classical music world does indeed continue to hold many discoveries in store - at least when it comes to sorting through the dubious, fragmentary, remarkable, and masterfully forged works constituting “Mozartiana”.
