Bach’s three Sonatas for Viola da Gamba and Harpsichord (BWV 1027-1029) are among his most famous chamber works and it is quite logical and natural to transfer the gamba part to the viola. It is fascinating to enjoy some of the Chorales without their church associations and enjoy the sonority of the instruments.
