In June of 1959, Moscow gave a hearty welcome to Mario del Monaco, one of the best tenors in the world and a soloist of La Scala. Del Monaco had many admirers, due to his many recordings and his starring role in the film “Young Caruso”. On this recording, Del Monaco sings in Italian but the rest of the cast perform in Russian.
