Dillon, J:

Dillug-Kefitsah for piano

Del Cuarto Elemento for violin

Traumwerk Book III for violin and piano

The soadie waste for piano quintet

The soadie waste, subtitled “wedding receptions, dances and housie housie” is inspired by an old dance hall in Rutherglen, near where James Dillon grew up on the outskirts of Glasgow. Dillon explains that “‘The soadie waste’ was the local name for the social club which was built on the wasteland of an old chemical factory, and it was said that residual fumes from below would seep through the floorboards during a hot dance session”. This is exuberantly physical music, evoking rowdy celebrations rather than a chemically traumatised populace.
