Tanja Tetzlaff was thrilled to be asked to give the first German performance of Rihm’s new Cello Concerto and rose to the challenge brilliantly, despite the difficulty of the work. The Toch Concerto is a chamber concerto with eleven orchestral instruments scored one to a part, all of them being virtuosic.

“Fiendishly difficult to play though it clearly is (Rihm), this is both a virtuoso vehicle and a dreamy meditation that is an active pleasure to listen to….This is an excellent, brilliantly interpreted coupling of two important works.”
