These lesser known works by Liszt are performed by an outstanding chamber ensemble. The string sound gives an extra dimension to the Liszt phenomenon. The two central works are the great Duo Sonata and the piano trio Carnival in Pest as a special form of the early version of Liszt’s later Ninth Hungarian Rhapsody for piano.
