Wolfsohn was born in Warsaw in 1888 and died in New York in 1944. After studying piano and composition in Moscow, he continued his studies as a pianist in Paris and Vienna. He emigrated to the USA in 1939. His works focus exclusively on Jewish music and Yiddish folklore. Russian-Jewish pianist Jascha Nemtsov studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. In addition to the classic-romantic piano repertoire he places great emphasis on the works of Jewish composers
