Colin Davis is a renowned Sibelian and the Boston Symphony Orchestra have been particularly associated with the composers music for many years. Even though Davis has repeated the symphonic cycles on a number of occasions these performances from the mid 1970’s remain, in the opinion of many music lovers, his crowning glory.

This stunning quadraphonic recording was made in the superb acoustics of Symphony Hall Boston in January 1975.
