In Flanders Fields Volume 53 - Darkness

The Emanon Ensemble always surprise and the programme on this release is no exception to that rule. Gorecki “Kleines Requiem” is scored for wind quintet, trumpet, trombone, string quintet, tubular bells and piano. Laporte calls on flute, bass clarinet, violin, viola, cello, percussion and piano. Ginste, in the title piece, “Darkness” uses the same forces as Gorecki, but adds two narrators. These are extremely approachable contemporary compositions. This release is Vol. 53 in the series “In Flanders Fields” which continues to amaze and introduce us to new and exciting works.
