When full-dress grandeur is called for, as in the Sinfonia to the Second Partita, Buchbinder provides it in spades, and when athleticism is required - as in the final two movements of that work - he's ready with that too…his next Bach recording can't come too soon.

Buchbinder offers Bach-playing of confidence and intelligence, unafraid to ornament and keen to point up the drama of the music.

Buchbinder emphasises bass figuration and an excess of baroque ornament takes a while to get used to on a modern Steinway. When you do, this is a rewarding and highly personal disc and the music dances.
