Born in Germany in 1956, Klaus Ospald stidied music and composition in Detmold and Wurzburg. In 1985 he was awarded a scholarship for the Cite de Arts Paris and in 1987 he began he continued his musical studies with Helmut Lachenmann. Using contemporary musical language, Ospald composes works heavily influenced by the surrounding city scapes and countryside of his native Germany.
