On the fourteenth of December at ten o’clock, exequies were held at the Church of St Nicholas in the Lesser Quarter for the Kapellmeister and Court Composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart who passed away in Vienna on the fifth of this month.
Almost the entire city of Vienna attended the service. The church held 4000 people which was nowhere near enough and the rest of the city streets were thronging with people who came also to listen to the Requiem, performed by 120 musicians including the great singer, Duschek, composed by the famous Kapellmeister, Rosetti.
This quote appeared in all the newspapers of the time, on the 17th December. We are proud to present this recording in Hybrid SACD, and it is a World Premiere of the complete work.
