Camilla Nylund (soprano) Muenchner Rundfunkorchester, Ulf Schirmer CPO is delighted to welcome back Finnish soprano Camilla Nylund. This new disc presents an array of orchestral songs by Nordic composers, some of which are world premiere recordings. Nylund captures the genuine, lyrical tones and conveys to the listener the feeling of yearning, with all its enticements and dangers. Sung in Swedish and Finnish, she interprets the force and passion seething underground in the music of Jean Sibelius, Leevi Madetoja’s more elegant resignation, Selim Palmgren’s sparkling impressions, and the fantastic lyric scenery created by Ture Rangström in his Den Utvalda. Luxembourg’s classical music magazine Pizzicato on a recent song recital by Nylund: “Her magnificent voice is very fresh, has a brand-new sound, and is led with technical excellence; it is enormously well-focused, light in its intonation, and capable of soaring up to the exposed heights and of producing a subtle pianissimo. A voice that without a doubt is among the most beautiful that I have experienced in recent years in the opera and in concert.” |

Soile Isokoski (soprano) Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Leif Segerstam "A thrilling performance of Luonnotar in which Isokoski’s sonorous soprano is matched by atmospheric playing from the Finnish orchestra. The rest of the disc makes you wonder why Sibelius’s orchestral songs occupy one of the most unjustly neglected corners of his output." Erik Levi BBC Music Magazine CD Review
